This project involved cutting a door opening in an existing ICF wall of a walkout basement. The owner wanted to park one of his classic cars in the basement
of his ICF house.
So we had to saw cut an opening for an 8 ft wide x 7 ft high door. I proposed using a steel channel for jambs and the header and anchor the steel channel
to the concrete of the ICF walls using expansion anchors. I also proposed welding a steel plate underneath the header channel, or using a shelf angle to carry the facia brick.
I am presenting here a couple of pictures showing a cross section of the wall and the proposed design details.
