Dec-16-2006 Update

The polyurethane spray insulation for the Stehr House in Highland Township Michigan was applied on Dec-13-2006.

Reddi-Set-Home supplied the material and did the spraying. Dan Schmitt and Scott Pickerd applied nominally 2.5" thick under the roof sheeting for the main house except for the Gable wall between the Garage and the main house, and the vaulted ceiling near the main entrance to the house.

The Gable wall betwen the Garage and the main house used 6" studs, and with the spray insulation set back nominally an inch or so, it is easier to note that 5" of spolyurethane was indeed applied in that area (see Picture 1).

The home-owner was concerned whether full 5" of polyurethane was applied in the vaulted ceiling part. There are 2x10 rafters in the vaulted ceiling with a 2x4 appended under those rafters -- so even with 5" of insulation in that area it is setback practically 9" above the lower end of the appended 2x4 -- this made it look like as enough insulation may not have been aplied in that area -- a few measurements taken however confirmed that an average of 5" of polyurethane insulation has indeed been applied (see Picture 2).
