This new home project in Ann Arbor Michigan is on a sloping terrain. The front of the house is on the South side, and the walk-out basement on the North side overlooks a pond. .

The site conditions required using a concrete slab and a grid work of grade beams as the basement slab.

The mat or raft slab with gridwork of grade beams will practically alleviate chances of any differential settlement, and will also allow greater flexibility in placing the walls on the basement slab.
