FORBERGERs live on a beautiful lake-front house located on an extra-wide double lot in Commerce Township. Dieter Forberger is a former senior executive and an accomplished engineer. Dieter always is up with the latest technology and he is of course intimately familiar with the energy efficient ICF (Insulating Concrete Form) construction. He wanted to build an energy efficient house next to his existing house.

There was a problem however, his new larger planned house will encroach on his existing property -- no not just the lot, but physically part of the existing house. Being an accomplished engineer Dieter wasn't going to be deterred -- he took the challenge head-on and sawed off part of the existing house to make room for his new larger planned house.

The new house has Reddi-Wall ICF walls, supported floors use Hambro composite floor system, and floors are concrete over deck over steel joists.

Dieter has done a great job with the new house following each and every detail very meticulously. I provided structural engineering consultation to Dieter for the new house, and it was a pleasure working with an accomplished engineer DIY owner.

The new house is all done. And in another post I will talk about Dieter's plans for upgrading his older existing house -- and who will upgrade the older existing house -- you guessed it Dieter the former senior executive and accomplished engineer turned into DIY guy.

In the following, I share with you a few pictures of the outside of the beautiful FORBERGER house -- I will post the pictures of the beautiful interior in another post.
